FALLSBURG – The Fallsburg Comets boys volleyball team has emerged after a long absence. The season kicked off in February with a 3-0 win over O’Neill on the Comets’ home court. Although it will be a short season with just a few away games remaining against Monroe-Woodbury and Rhinebeck next week, they count this season as a success. The students spearheaded the resurgence of the boys’ program. Fallsburg Athletic Director Amanda Stevens told the Democrat, “It was completely student-led. If there’s an interest, then we do our best to support our students.” The team is coached by Fallsburg teacher Alissa Wachter, and even though there weren’t many games on the schedule, the team still showed appreciation for their graduating seniors earlier this month. The Comets will play their final two games of the season at Monroe-Woodbury High School on Tuesday, March 17, and at Rhinebeck on Wednesday, March 18. The championship games will be on Saturday, March 21, at Port Jervis High School.
