FALLSBURG ––  The Fallsburg Central School District is proud to announce they will posthumously induct John Halchak Jr. into the Fallsburg CSD Wall of Coaching Distinction. Mr. Halchak joined Fallsburg CSD in 1957 as a Physical Education and Driver’s Education teacher. He was the head coach of the basketball, baseball, golf, and swimming teams throughout his tenure. Most notably, he led his swimming team to the DUSO League swimming championships during the 1965-1966 season and his baseball team to the 1985 Section IX Class D championships. Additionally, he was also the Section IX Chairman for swimming and golfing and the district’s Athletic Director for nearly a decade. He ultimately retired in 1989, leaving behind a storied and distinguished legacy.

Students and staff, who were acquainted with Mr. Halchak, admired his unparalleled commitment to Fallsburg athletics. As a coach, he formed deep connections with his players through his compassionate demeanor and words of wisdom. He always encouraged his players and students to push themselves beyond their limits regardless of the adversities ahead.

The Fallsburg Central School District wishes to invite you to the Wall of Distinction ceremony, which will take place on December 4, 2024 at 7:00pm during the district’s Board of Educationmeeting at the Fallsburg Junior-Senior High School.
