MONTICELLO – The Sullivan County Office for the Aging encourages eligible residents to get their farmer’s market coupons before they’re gone.

“The Senior Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program provides an opportunity for seniors to support local farmers and improve their health by buying and eating more locally grown fruits, vegetables, and fresh-cut herbs,” explains Office for the Aging Director Lise-Anne Deoul. “We’ve gotten another shipment of Farmer’s Market Coupon booklets that we’re distributing on a first-come, first-served basis.”

Each booklet contains five $5 coupons, for a total of $25. Coupons are valid through November 30, 2025 at participating markets.

“We’re at the height of harvest season in Sullivan County,” notes Deoul, “so now’s the time to use these coupons!”

In order to take advantage of this program, you must be a NYS resident and 60 years of age or older. You must also affirm that your income is at or below the federal income guidelines:

•  For a 1-person household: $2,413 a month

•  For a 2-person household: $3,261 a month

•  For a 3-person household: $4,109 a month; or

•  You are currently receiving or are eligible for SSI, public assistance, SNAP (food stamps), or Section 8 housing.

You may pick up coupons at the Office for the Aging in the Government Center in Monticello between 8:30am-4pm Monday through Friday or at the Transportation Building, 401 Airport Road, Swan Lake, every Tuesday or Thursday from 10am-1pm.

For more information, please contact the Office at 845-807-0241 or 845-807-0245.

Coupons are also available at senior nutrition sites and senior centers in Liberty, Livingston Manor, Bethel, Monticello, Jeffersonville and Mamakating.
