From Ellenville to Otisville, Prizgintas offers Wide Variety of Public Cello Shows for October

SULLIVAN COUNTY – With more than a dozen musical shows under his belt, Alex Prizgintas has two new cello shows coming to the Ellenville Public Library & Museum and the Otisville Sanctuary in early October.

Just this summer, he released a brand new cello program for wide audiences: Sinatra. “With more than 200 bookings this year alone, I need to keep a few steps ahead of my rapidly growing audience by developing and producing new shows,” according to Alex Prizgintas, cellist. “My new Sinatra program offers some of the best hits from the Chairman of the Board with a unique cello sound, as well as stories behind Sinatra’s, at times, decisive opinions behind his most famous tunes as well as other genres of music such as Rock ’n Roll.” Using a Boss RC-300 Looping Station to recreate the powerful orchestral arrangements of Sinatra’s music, as well as guitar effect pedals that bring his unique voice to life through the cello, Alex’s new show offers selections to be enjoyed by all ages. “Sinatra” will be shown on Tuesday, October 7 at 6pm with the Ellenville Public Library & Museum of Ellenville.

Following this, and building from his existing rock ’n roll programs such as his popular British Invasion show, Prizgintas is also preparing another new electric cello show to resonate at the heart of the Sullivan County’s rich cultural history. “Woodstock: 1969 has been an exciting journey” says Prizgintas, whose cello shows are popular across Orange and Sullivan counties. “Though some classics from existing shows will be featured in this new program, the bulk of material being presented is fresh and new, covering the depth of artists featured at the Woodstock Festival. Among those I am excited to share, especially with a unique electric cello sound, include the musicians Joe Cocker, Janis Joplin, The Who, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Jefferson Airplane, Mountain, and Credence Clearwater Revival.” What has perhaps been even more exciting in this journey is crafting the historical narrations which accompany each selection, to blend history and harmony. This allows Alex to bring in a few artists that, while not present at Woodstock such as Joni Mitchell, contributed in important ways to the sentiments of that era. This unique sound of “Woodstock 1969” on the cello will be part of the Otisville Sanctuary in Otisville, on Friday, October 10 at 6:30pm.
