Healthiest Fire Department Challenge
The Sullivan 180 Healthiest Fire Department Challenge is entering the home stretch, with less than 40 days remaining. Smallwood-Mongaup Valley Fire Department continues to lead with 214 points. Kauneonga Lake Fire Department remains in second place, while Livingston Manor Fire Department holds onto third, with Jeffersonville Fire Department close behind.
As the finish line approaches, every activity counts. This week, departments hit the trails, shared healthy meals, and continued building wellness into their routines. Jeffersonville firefighters kept up their tradition of preparing a healthy meal on drill nights, serving turkey tacos as a nutritious alternative.
Kauneonga Lake and Swan Lake firefighters (Pictured) met up for a 3-mile hike to Mullet Falls in the Neversink River Unique Area in Rock Hill before enjoying healthy snacks together. Activities like these promote healthy lifestyles while strengthening firematic camaraderie across departments.
Follow along as the Challenge comes to a close and join us Sept. 12 at the Sullivan County Volunteer Firefighters’ Association Parade in Grahamsville as we celebrate the 2026 Healthiest Fire Department Challenge winners!
