Heart Healthy Trail Mix

In honor of the 98.3 WSUL Heart-A-Thon on February 20, we’re sharing a simple, delicious way to support heart health right at home: Heart-Healthy Trail Mix.

This nutrient-packed recipe is more than just a snack; it’s a blend of ingredients known to support cardiovascular health. Almonds, pecans, and walnuts provide heart-healthy unsaturated fats that can help lower bad cholesterol. Pepitas (shelled pumpkin seeds) add magnesium and plant-based protein, both important for maintaining healthy blood pressure. Dried apples and cherries contribute fiber and antioxidants that support overall heart function, while a small amount of dark chocolate offers flavonoids that may improve blood vessel health when enjoyed in moderation.

Easy to make and perfect for sharing, this Heart-Healthy Trail Mix is a tasty reminder that small, everyday choices can make a big difference for your heart, just like the Annual 98.3 WSUL Heart-A-Thon makes a big difference for our community. Make a portion and take it on your next walk or trail adventure.

Ingredients

1 cup almonds (optional to roast them first)

½ cup pepitas (shelled pumpkin seeds)

½ cup crumbled walnuts (chopped or walnut pieces would work too)
