The Janice Center held its Spring Dance Recital on Friday, June 13 at the Sullivan West High School Auditorium. The student dancers from ages 4-18 performed 16 routines to re-mixed, re-made and re-mastered songs of the past. Several parents joined the show with an audience-pleasing routine culminating in VanHalen’s “Jump”.

The highlight of the recital was the Wall of Fame Banner presented to graduating senior Arie Hinkley, who also performed a dazzling solo. Arie was just the seventh recipient of the Wall of Fame Banner in the 18-year history of The Janice Center. It is a rare achievement honoring only those students who have taken dance class continuously from Pre-K/Kindergarten through high school. Arie is off to Marist College next Fall.

Dance is offered during a Fall Session and a Winter-Spring Session. There will also be a special Summer Camp July 14-16 for seventh graders and up and will concentrate on lyrical dance – learning and refining lyrical moves and working tricks. Yoga stretching will also be part of this camp. The cost per camp is $180; $340 total if enrolling two siblings. The upcoming Winter-Spring session will begin February 8. Registration forms can be found online at www.janicecenter.com/.
