More than 80 Janice Center students performed to capacity audiences during dance and instrumental recitals held on December 12 at The Janice Center. Students in flute, guitar and piano played solo and duet pieces with holiday favorites and classic tunes mixed in. The recital introduced Matthew Albeck, The Janice Center’s new guitar/piano and voice instructor (and Democrat Staff Reporter).

The Dance Recital was held on December 21 with 65 ballet, lyrical and hip hop students entertaining the packed Villa Roma nightclub audience with an array of originally choreographed routines. The highlight of the show was a light-themed number performed by the Artistic Alliance Lyrical group. With the room completely dark, the 14 dancers illuminated the stage with specially designed lighted costumes and accessories. Three students appeared in both the dance and music recitals. They were Luke Bressler, Jaelyn Brockner and Lilly Lynker.

Dance is offered during a Fall Session and a Winter-Spring Session. The upcoming Winter-Spring session will begin January 31. Instrumental lessons in clarinet, flute, guitar, piano and sax are taught year-round.

The Janice Center, located on Route 52 in Jeffersonville is a one-stop shop for the arts. In addition to dance and instrumental lessons, a popular Music Together program is offered for ages 0-4. For more information, call The Janice Center at 845-482-3324 or visit www.janicecenter.com.
