I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful holiday season! I am counting the days until Spring already. Personally, I hate the cold, blustery weather but the Villa Roma is ready for you skiers, continuing a 40-year tradition. They are keeping their prices low for our students and the locals all season long! If the students wear their school gear, they have a chance to win a free lift ticket too!
The Western Sullivan Public Library is holding their Annual Toy Swap for the month of January. A great opportunity to declutter and give your old toys a new home. You can also take something home that is new-to- you! Stop by any of their branches and put your *clean and *unbroken toys in the Toy Swap Bins located in the Children’s Room. The program will run until February 1st. Feel free to email WSPL childrens@gmail.com with any questions or concerns. Also, thanks to the “Friends of the Western Sullivan Public Library” group for purchasing new computers for the library’s Children’s Rooms at the Callicoon and Jeffersonville branches! Visit one of these branches and try one out!
A Tricky Tray is being held on March 22nd at the Lake Huntington Fire House (located at 70 County Road 116, Lake Huntington) with doors opening at 3 p.m. and the calling will begin at 5 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Cochecton Volunteer Ambulance Corp for equipment to improve patient care for the community and also go towards the SWCSD Class of 2025 graduation. The Sullivan County Pageant will be held on April 12th at the Neversink Fire House. The deadline to enter is March 10th with a $75 entry fee which includes all phases of the competition. Contact FMI: sullivancountypageant@yahoo.com.
SUNY Sullivan is offering EMT Courses – both Basic and Refresher beginning in February! The EMT Basic Course is ideal for newcomers , running for 12 weeks, starting on February 25th, Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Sunday’s from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. with tuition $950 and a $100 registration fee for all participants. For certified EMT’s the Refresher Course includes classroom and practical hands-on-training, starting February 23rd and runs classes concurrently with the Basic course.
