JEMS thanks Jim Hughson and his helpers for putting the Jeff Jamboree banner up across Main Street to remind everyone of this great event on Saturday, September 13!

The last outdoor concert featuring the Little Sparrow group was held at The Backyard Park last weekend. The music was fantastic and the weather cooperated too.  Talented Henry Simon’s played guitar and is on his way to college. Little Sparrow is playing  at the Jeff Jamboree Saturday, September 13. Joining them this year is banjo and guitar player Mike Baglione and on bass will be Jeffersonville’s own Jay Brooks.

Congratulations to our Jeffersonville Fire Department for the trophies they took home from the great parade and field day sponsored by the Hortonville Volunteer Fire Company last weekend. They won trophies for: Oldest firefighter in the line of march, Peter Cummings, best appearing apparatus over 35 years old, and the Judges Choice Trophy. Great job!

“Summerween” in Jeffersonville on Sunday, August 31 from 10am-2pm. Trick or Treat bags and maps at Solstice and Ash (where your fun begins), face painting and animal balloons with Double D and Cuppie Cakes, donuts at the Jeff Bake Shop , toys at the Vintage Store and treats from other merchants along Main Street wherever you see a carved watermelon jack-o-lantern.  Then a fun prize at the Jeff Farmer’s Market with a completed map. This event is sponsored by Solstice and Ash Mystic Shoppe.

Sullivan West’s newly hired teachers visited Myers Century Farm in Jeffersonville – home to Ri’s Homemade Ice Cream and a proud family of Sullivan West alumni! Good luck to the new teachers and all our Sullivan West staff for a terrific school year! I am sure it was  a wonderful trip to a great farm full of family traditions and delicious ice cream too!

Sullivan West is holding Pre-K Orientation Thursday, September 4 from 9:30am-12:30pm at the Sullivan West Elementary School-first day of Pre-K, September 5, Friday. Meet the teachers, tour the classrooms, and get ready for the first day! For more information call 845-482-4610 or visit www.swcsd.org.

Saturday, September 27 from 11am-4pm Farm Fest is being held at the Hilly Acres Farm located at 32 Wahl Road, Jeffersonville. Free admission for a day of farm fun, community spirit, and remembrance. Meet the animals and local farmers, enjoy tractor-pulled hayrides, family activities that include pumpkin painting & kid’s fun, and listen to live music too. There will be 4-H and FFA (Future Farmers of America) demonstrations and exhibits. This year’s Farm Fest has a very special purpose. They are coming together to support the Jaclene Poley Memorial Fund – honoring a beloved Jeff Bank colleague and community member who passed unexpectedly this summer. Donations will go directly to help care for her two young children. Bring your family and friends out to enjoy a perfect fall day, celebrate farming, community, and the spirit of giving. The Jeff Bank is also accepting donations at the Bank.

I love the sign someone put up by the Dollar General in Jeffersonville – thank you! It says “It doesn’t  cost to wave, smile or say hello.”
