January 29 – I hope everyone is OK after the massive storm we went through! Important when outdoors: Wear layers of loose-fitting, water repellent, warm clothing. Wear a hat (something I never do) 40% of your body heat is lost from your head and tight-fitting mittens are much better than gloves. Pretty soon the groundhog will have a chance to turn things around – he better do a good job!
Dance classes start Saturday, tomorrow at The Janice Center. Register by calling 845-482-3324, texting 845-423-8028 or visit www.janicecenter.com. Their Winter-Spring Session includes Ballet, Hip Hop and Lyrical. Most classes are held during the week at 4 and 5 p.m. with Lyrical and advanced Hip Hop on Saturdays. This session will culminate with a recital at the Sullivan West High School in early June. Classes are open to ages 4 and up.
Sullivan County’s Child Advocacy Center is hosting a clothing donation drive for children in need, January 26 to February 6. They want all sizes of girls and boys clothing with new clothing preferred but lightly used accepted too. You can drop off at 50 Community Lane, Liberty weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Any questions, please call their CAC Coordinator Rachel Waldman at 845-513-2408. Their quote, “A small donation makes a difference.”
The WSS United Methodist Church and WSS Fire Department are sponsoring a Fish Fry Friday, February 20 from 4p.m. to 7 p.m. at the WSS Fire House. You can eat in or take out an amazing meal of fried haddock, baked potato, coleslaw, dinner roll and brownie for $15/person. Advance tickets are recommended, contact a Church or Fire Department member or call 845-701-3194.
Saturday, February 7 is “Take Your Child to the Library Day” at the Western Sullivan Public Library branches! At the Jeffersonville branch (located at 19 Center Street) that day beginning at noon, Candle Making with Aunt Nune’s Apothecary is happening. Roll and decorate candles from beeswax sheets making scented candles from melted wax, dried flowers and essential oils. For Adults and children ages 6+ and registration IS required. Reminder: The SW Elementary PTSO is sponsoring The Harlem Wizards and they are bringing their unbelievable basketball show to Sullivan West High School at the Lake Huntington campus on Friday, February 13 at 7 p.m. Bring your friends, neighbors, and teammates for a night you will not want to miss.
