Kevin F. Keller passed away on October 14, at Roscoe Regional Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. He was the son of the late Francis Keller and Margaret McAleavey and was born on December 10, 1949, in Manhattan, New York.

Kevin proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1969 to 1970. Following his military service, he built a long career in corrections, working his way up through the ranks before retiring in 2007 as Deputy Superintendent of Security at Mid-Orange Correctional Facility.

Outside of his professional life, Kevin had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and the beauty of nature. He enjoyed flying model airplanes and could often be found on a beach or exploring with his metal detector, especially in Cape Cod, one of his favorite destinations. He also enjoyed traveling and reading.

Kevin generously volunteered his time with Eagle Watch in Bashakill in Wurtsboro and the Delaware Highlands. He had a special passion for photographing nature and animals, particularly eagles and other birds. Through his photography he shared his love of wildlife and the natural world with others.

Kevin is survived by his beloved wife, Candace LaPolt Keller; his daughter, Amanda Grace Keller Ransmeier, and her husband, Siler Charles Ransmeier; his brother, Thomas Keller, and his wife, Marguerite; his nephew, Kevin Keller, and his wife, Laura, and their son, Brendan; as well as many cousins, extended family members, and friends.

Kevin will be remembered for his good sense of humor, his love of adventure, and his appreciation for the simple pleasures in life. His presence will be deeply missed by all who have the pleasure of knowing him.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, October 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, New York. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Kevin’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
