LOCH SHELDRAKE – New Hope Community, a nonprofit organization supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), is proud to announce the promotion of Kristen Pignatelli to Chief Operating Officer.
Kristen joined New Hope Community in February 2018 as Coordinator of Corporate Compliance and Quality Improvement. Since then, she has advanced through Director and Senior Director roles, demonstrating strong leadership in both program operations and regulatory compliance. Her work reflects a deep commitment to high-quality, person-centered services and organizational excellence.
She began her career in human services in 2006 as a Direct Support Professional working with children with autism, where she developed a lasting appreciation for collaborative, individualized supports. Her hands-on experience, combined with her expertise in corporate compliance, provides a strong foundation for overseeing agency-wide operations and ensuring service quality.
As Chief Operating Officer, Kristen oversees talented departments of professionals, promoting collaboration, strengthening systems, refining processes, and making data-driven decisions to enhance service delivery and efficiency. She is known as a thoughtful, solutions-oriented leader who values integrity, teamwork, and respect.
Kristen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Mount Saint Mary College and remains actively engaged in professional development through regional networks and committees. In 2020, she completed the Leadership Sullivan Program and was honored with New Hope Community’s Hope Heart Award. The following year, she was recognized by the Sullivan County Democrat as a Professional Woman in Business, an acknowledgement of her dedication to both the organization and the wider community. Beyond her professional role, she dedicates her time as a volunteer with organizations supporting those in need.
“Kristen’s promotion to Chief Operating Officer is a reflection of her dedication, leadership, and understanding of what it means to deliver person-centered supports,” said Karen Russell, CEO of New Hope Community. “She has a strong ability to bring people together, inspire teamwork, and remain focused on what matters most – the people we support and our staff.”
