WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS –– During a comfortable evening at the White Sulphur Springs Fireman’s Park on Monday; Charlie’s Angels worked hard to keep the game competitive, going a full seven innings. But L & B Tack proved that they were not to be denied, with a convincing 17 to 5 win.
L & B tack’s consistent at-bats that made the difference, pounding hit after hit, twice scoring 4 or more runs in a single inning.
It was a run-scoring merry-go-round as they kept the bases loaded and moved each other over for each run. Maria Jeltsch led the hitting barrage with 4 hits.
The Angels could have been tighter in their fielding, but they did show grit in their continued battling. In the end though, it was the constant pressure from L & B’s hot bats that was too much to surmount.
L & B set the tone in the first inning scoring 5 runs. Charlie’s Angels answered back with 2 runs when they took their turn at bat. In the second inning, defense prevailed, no runs were scored by either side. Impressive put outs were supplied- Emily Depew at third base for Charlie’s Angels, and Zaylee Cox in centerfield, for the L & B Tack club.
From the third inning on though, L & B’s relentless hitting started to separate the two teams. Charlie’s Angels fought back with a few runs with doubles by Jo Walls and Cindy Ellmauer, but they were unable to capitalize on them, which allowed L & B’s steady and consistent play, to lead them to victory.
