With Valentine’s Day officially in the rearview mirror, we’re left with empty chocolate boxes, wilting roses, and a whole lot of winter still ahead. We may still be in the middle of chilly weather, but there is light at the end of the tunnel with spring slowly creeping up!
Here are some events happening in our community and beyond:
The Sullivan West Central School District is inviting colleges, trade schools, businesses, and community organizations to participate in its 2026 College & Career Day, an event designed to connect students with future education and career pathways. The event will take place on March 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and offers a great opportunity for organizations to engage directly with students, share resources, and spark conversations about career options. Interested businesses and participants are encouraged to reach out to Will Hulse at 845-932-8401 ext. 1108 or via email at hulsewil@swcsd.org for more information and to get involved.
Arts Nest at Delaware Valley Opera continues its winter concert series with three engaging Sunday afternoon performances that spotlight artists known for rich storytelling and exceptional musicianship. The month concludes on February 22 at 2 p.m. with AILÍSE, an Irish-born artist now living in the Catskills, whose music bridges past and present through ancestral influences, original Irish- and English-language compositions, and themes of transformation and self-discovery. AILÍSE brings a wide-ranging performance background spanning choral work, traditional Irish music, classical training, and contemporary songwriting. All performances take place at Arts Nest, 6692 State Route 52 in Lake Huntington. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.
Mark your calendars and shake off the winter blues at the Winter Blues Bash, as the Delaware Youth Center’s Kids Dance Party returns on Saturday, February 21, from Noon to 4 p.m. After last year’s great turnout, this year’s party is shaping up to be even bigger and more fun. Pre-K through 2nd graders are invited to dance and play from noon to 2 p.m. with classic favorites like musical chairs and other age-appropriate games, while 3rd through 6th graders take over the dance floor from 2 to 4 p.m. DJ Mazz will keep the energy high, spinning crowd favorites like the Cha Cha Slide, Macarena, Cotton Eyed Joe, and more, ensuring nonstop dancing, laughs, and fun. Admission is just $5 per child, with adults free, or $10 per child includes a hot dog, snack, and drink, with additional food available for purchase. Grab those dancing shoes and head to the Delaware Youth Center at 8 Creamery Road in Callicoon for an afternoon of winter-beating fun your kids won’t want to miss.
