Many of us are counting down the days to spring break, longer stretches of daylight, and the first real hints of warmth in the air. The snowbanks may still linger, and the lake may not yet be ready for evening strolls, but there’s a noticeable shift, seed catalogs on the kitchen table, talk of gardens and summer plans, and that familiar feeling that brighter days are just around the corner. Here are some events happening in our community and beyond:
The Sullivan West High School Musical Production Club is ready to take audiences on a sweet adventure this March with their presentation of Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka. Performances will be held in the Sullivan West High School Auditorium in Lake Huntington on Friday and Saturday, March 13 and 14 at 7 p.m., with a Sunday matinee on March 15 at 2 p.m. Based on the beloved book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl, this lively stage adaptation features music and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse and Timothy Allen McDonald.
Audiences can expect colorful characters, memorable songs, and all the magic and mischief of Willy Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory brought to life by our talented local students. Tickets are priced at $10 for adults and $6 for students. Senior citizens (62+) are admitted free of charge. Sunday’s performance also offers special family pricing: a family four-pack for $24 and a family five-pack for $30. Mark your calendars and come out to support our Sullivan West performers for what promises to be a delightful, family-friendly production full of imagination and fun.
The Delaware Youth Center will host its Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 28 beginning at noon. Families are invited to join the fun for an afternoon filled with egg hunting, photos with the Easter Bunny, playground activities, and delicious hot dogs and concession stand snacks. The event is free to attend, and donations are appreciated.
