Lee Girard Bradshaw, age 88, of Cicero, NY, passed away on Sept 25, 2026 at NY Presbyterian Hospital in Bronxville, NY.
Lee was born in Waterbury, CT to Girard and Ruth Bradshaw. He grew up in Thomaston, CT, where he attended Thomaston High School and enjoyed playing the drums. Lee went on to study education and English, earning both Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from the University of Connecticut.
In 1962, Lee married Lucille Mastropiero, and they shared 31 years together. He is survived by sons Girard and Christopher Bradshaw. Lee spent much of his career working in the Monticello Central School District, in Monticello, NY, where he taught for 33 years. He directed several dramatic productions for Monticello High School as well as the Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop. At Monticello High School, Lee taught English and speech, and took on the role of Director of Forensics. During his sixteen years coaching debate and speech, his students achieved numerous district and state championships, and in 1980, a national championship in dramatic interpretation. His many debate tournaments took him throughout New York, as well as to other states, including Colorado, California, and Louisiana. Outside of work, he enjoyed fly fishing for trout, playing golf, skiing, reading, and watching UConn basketball games. Friends and family remember him for his love of poetry and nature, his deadpan sense of humor, and his excellent bartending skills.
He made a lasting impact through his support of the Nature Conservancy as well as several musical organizations.
Lee was preceded in death by his sister Lynne.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Nature Conservancy. Contributions may be made online at www.nature.org.
A Memorial Celebration will be announced and held privately at a future time.
