Where to start? Well, the new administration has come in with a wrecking ball in an unprecedented executive branch power grab. Their aim is to dismantle what the right has long vilified as the Deep State. In this effort, Elon Musk, unelected and unvetted, has brought in his young computer hacking interns to go through millions of secure government websites that contain all of our personal information. Wow. I’m not sure how this is playing out on right wing outlets, but I have to say that it makes me just a little uncomfortable. According to historian Heather Cox Richardson “at the direction of the President of the United States of America, (they) got access to everyone’s federal financial information. That’s you, me, everyone. If you pay taxes, Musk has your information. He also has control of the disbursement of payments made to you by the federal government. That includes Social Security and Medicare. This also breaches a secret portion of the State Department’s accounts.” Richardson noted that this is the largest cyber breach, ever.

If that were all that was taking place, it would be frightening enough, but no, there’s so much more. Executive Orders are flying out of the Oval Office like clouds of locusts. This is, of course, intentional. It is meant to keep us overwhelmed by the sheer amount of chaos caused.

Thousands of pages of government websites gone. Just vanished. A banner message appears on the pages of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) website: “CDC’s website is being modified to comply with President Trump’s Executive Orders.” Okay, what exactly needs to be changed in the CDC, one wonders?

But this is just the tip of the iceberg. Dismantling the Department of Education is on top of the list, too. This department, one of the smaller ones in the federal government, is targeted with extinction. However, let it be noted that this department never provided curriculum to any states, but did provide monies for Head Start programs, Pell Grants for college students, and free and reduced lunches in our schools. 

Every day brings another avalanche of news. Now the US is apparently going to send soldiers to the Gaza Strip to turn it into a resort? Is this really happening? Looks like we have officially entered the Monopoly stage of the second Trump regime. We knew he loved oligarchs, and we knew that oligarchs want to rule the world (or Mars, right Elon?) Now it seems he has mistaken the Gaza Strip for a fixer-upper Park Place on the World Monopoly board. 

The mind boggles. And that’s the aim of this whole Project 2025 circus.
