LIBERTY —The Liberty Museum & Arts Center will be full of activities this Saturday, hosting its 31st Harvest Fest on October 25th, from noon until 4PM. The festival opens with a poem presented by Liberty’s own Poet Laureate Marilyn Laufer, followed immediately by the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 12:30pm. The Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce will host the ceremony for the new Creation Station, made possible by Celebration for Hope’s Compass Fund at the Center. This will be a free art-exchange kiosk, where artists donate small artworks for the community to take and enjoy. Reminiscences of the Pursuit of Happiness cafe and music club will follow.
But the highlight of the festival is the Great Chili Cook-Off, beginning at 2 PM, with mouth-watering chilis from a slew of local restaurants and from home cooks as well, all vying for the best chili in their own categories. Meat, vegetarian and vegan chilis will be on hand. For a $10 donation, visitors get to try all the chilis and vote for their favorites. No one leaves hungry.
Hope’s Compass is open by appointment. The Liberty Museum and Arts Center is open weekends from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, May through November, and by appointment.
