LIBERTY – The salmon ladder is a fitness obstacle that requires an athlete to climb a series of rungs using a movable bar. Not an easy feat even for the best athlete. According to experts, it takes a specific technique to master this obstacle. It requires a combination of strength, balance, and technique to shift the bar upwards. It also happens to be Zack Alvord’s favorite obstacle on the Ninja Warrior course.

It’s a balancing act for Alvord who manages a demanding schedule with school and multiple sports throughout the year. All while following a strict ninja training routine. He has been training since he was eight years old and shows no signs of slowing down. Ninja helped strengthen the special bond between Zack and his grandmother.

The dedication and time required to compete at this level can be challenging, but Alvord doesn’t let these obstacles deter him. Instead, he uses them to shape himself into a hardworking and humble individual.

Academically he [Alvord] remains in the top 10 of his class; this is his sophomore year at Liberty High School.

After the recent closure of High Exposure gym in NJ, Alvord has found a new home at No Limit Ninja in Yonkers.

Another visit to World’s is on the horizon. In just a few short weeks Alvord will step onto the Ninja course again.

“My main goal is to clear stage 1 and hit the buzzer! Advancing to the next stage will make the event that much more exciting and worthwhile.” The event consists of a Discipline Circuit and the stage courses.

Ninja Warrior’s from Canada, France, Australia, all over the UK and the states come to compete at World’s.  “ I would really just like to shout out my current coaches, Coach Andrew and Coach Katrell. Also my first coaches, Coach Amaury and Coach Darion who helped build my foundation and love for ninja. Coach Darion is a 3-time American Ninja Warrior competitor and    may join Alvord’s coaching team at World’s.
