Community and anybody with a drive for motors were invited to come out last Saturday for the 5th Annual Chris Pekny Memorial Motor Show.
With an assortment of trucks, tractors and cars, the Motor Show strives to continue the legacy and memory of Christopher Pekny, who suddenly and tragically passed back in 2021.
“It’s for scholarships for Liberty, Livingston Manor (Rockland) and BOCES,” stated Jan Pekny, Christopher’s mother. “There’s been a lot of donations that we’ve got from different businesses around town.”
The large turnout for the event meant a lot to Jan, who described all who came out as “just a great turnout”.
Speaking of turnout, the number of entrants to the show was estimated to be 50, and that’s not accounting for the many motorcycles that were present at the showcase.
“I’m touched. I can’t tell you [how grateful I am],” Jan said.
The winner of the car show was Tom Flynn with a 1937 Packard.
Among those present at the show were Chick-e-Ribs, who closed their doors for the weekend to bring their talent and tastes to guests of the event.
Students of the newlyformed Rockland Central School District were selling Walking Tacos to raise money for their class. Also selling food was the Cub Scouts Pack 105 of Livingston Manor selling popcorn.
“I would [also] like to shout out the people that showed up and the vendors,” explained Jan. “They really make this event happen.”
