ELDRED — Local student Chelsea Potter, from Eldred Central School District,  was recently selected for the New York Area All-State Chorus Zone 9— a big honor for any student musician. She is the first since 2017 to earn this distinction at the school.

This November 22, Chelsea will travel to Cornwall Central School to sing with the top high school vocalists from across New York State at the New York State School Music Association festival. It’s an  achievement that reflects her hard work, talent, and love for music — as well as the dedication and guidance of her chorus teacher, Mr. Brian Nivison.

“Music, art, and theater give students a voice, a sense of belonging, and the confidence to express themselves. For many kids, it’s where they truly shine,” said proud parent, Susann Potter.
