Monticello — The Monticello Rotary Club is riding a wave of enthusiasm and community spirit following the tremendous success of last weekend’s 47th Annual Monster Classic 5K & 10K, hosted at Resorts World Catskills. With over 250 runners participating, the event raised nearly $17,000 – including more than $10,000 for the Sullivan County Veterans Coalition.

Next up, the Monticello Rotary will host its Annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, September 13 at the beautiful Tarry Brae Golf Course in Fallsburg. The tournament benefits the Monticello Rotary Scholarship Fund, which supports local service-minded students in their pursuit of education. Sponsors and foursomes are welcome – it’s a great day for golf, camaraderie, and giving back.

Looking ahead, the Monticello Rotary is thrilled to announce that in Spring 2026 (date to be determined), the Rotary Clubs of Liberty and Monticello will join forces to host the beloved Taste of Sullivan at SUNY Sullivan. This celebrated event will once again partner with SUNY Sullivan’s world-class culinary arts program and feature restaurants from across Sullivan County, offering an unforgettable showcase of local flavors. Proceeds will benefit the Sullivan County Federation for the Homeless.

In other exciting news, Monticello Rotary is sponsoring the creation of the new Sullivan Central Rotary Club. This is the fourth Rotary club in the Sullivan County community, joining the long established Liberty, Livingston Manor and Monticello clubs. This addition reflects the Rotary mission of expanding service opportunities and building stronger connections throughout the region.

“There’s so much energy in the Monticello Rotary right now,” said Club President Les Kristt. “We are embracing our ‘Service Above Self’ motto and finding new ways to make a meaningful difference in our community.”

The Monticello Rotary Club meets every Tuesday at 6:30 PM at Albella Restaurant in Monticello. Guests are always welcome – come share a meal, meet our members, and see what Rotary is all about.
