MONTGOMERY – New York Football Giants two-time Super Bowl champion and Super Bowl XXV MVP Ottis Anderson joined more than a dozen members of Healey Ford and officials of the Giants organization to take part in a Volunteer Shift at the Regional Food Bank’s Hudson Valley Distribution Center in Montgomery to support the Food Bank’s mission to raise awareness of food insecurity and reinforce the importance to give back to communities.

“I just want to be a part of trying to change lives and make lives better,” said Anderson, who with the other volunteers helped to sort and pack items, including local grown fresh produce, for distribution throughout the Food Bank's 23-county service area. “We don't worry about accolades or anything like that, because food connect us all. We're going to make sure that people who are in need get a chance to have fresh fruit and fresh vegetables or whatever.”

The two-hour Volunteer Shift brought together Ford Motor Company, Healey Ford, and the New York Giants organization in support of the Regional Food Bank, as part of the Ford Building Together campaign that focuses on partnering with dealerships and nonprofit organizations across the country to maximize the collective positive impact in local communities.

“The Food Bank has tremendous gratitude to Healey Brothers and the New York Giants for joining us today and helping give back to our community,” said Susan Lintner, Chief Advocacy & Engagement Officer for the Regional Food Bank. “Their support helps us expand awareness to the critical need to fight hunger in the Hudson Valley.”

More than 355,000 people, 12.2% of the population in the Regional Food Bank’s 23-county service area, are food insecure, meaning that they don’t always know where they will find their next meal. A staggering 15.4% of children in the region experience food insecurity. The data shows that food insecurity continues to grow with an additional 23,210 individuals in the Regional Food Bank’s service area. “We’re very, very proud of the partnership that Healey Brothers has with the Regional Food Bank and what we are able to donate and accomplish together,” said Dwight Healey, owner of Healey Brothers.

“The New York Giants believe that being part of this community extends far beyond the football field,” said Allison Stangeby, Vice President of Community & Corporate Relations New York Giants. “Working alongside Healey Ford and the Regional Food Bank gives our organization an opportunity to roll up our sleeves and help families in this community. We are proud to be part of an effort that brings people together to address an important local need.”
