OUR TOWN AND THE FOUNDING OF DVAA

In 1975, a group of performers under the direction of Elaine Giguere and Tom DeGaetani helped our community celebrate the nation’s Bicentennial with a full-length theatrical production of Our Town, Thornton Wilder's 1938 Pulitzer-Prize winning play about the preciousness of life told through the eyes of the residents of a small town. The resulting production, which was performed in Narrowsburg and Callicoon, laid the seeds for the founding of the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance (DVAA) in 1976. In celebration of our 50th Anniversary, DVAA is proud to remount a community production of Our Town at the historic Tusten Theatre, directed by Greg Triggs, opening this October.

DVAA 50

To mark a half century of advancing the arts in the Sullivan Catskills and Upper Delaware River Valley Region, DVAA has planned a number of celebratory and forward-looking events over the course of 2026. From anniversary exhibitions and theatrical productions to celebrations of the amazing creative community that DVAA has helped foster in surprising places and through new partnerships, it will be a year of celebrating what has been built as we gather momentum for what comes next.
