Phillipsport – The Jazzwomen will perform at the Phillipsport Community Center Music Night, Saturday, August 15 from 7-9pm at 657 Red Hill Rd, Phillipsport, NY. $10 includes music, homemade pie and a non-alcoholic drink. Door opens at 6:30. Held outside weather permitting.

The Jazzwomen belong to a regional collective of jazz artists performing in ensembles of varying sizes. Wherever they go they delight and inspire with creative renditions of jazz classics, works by pioneer women composers and original compositions.  Audiences love the music, spontaneity, humor and interaction.  This project was created by Kim Peralta, the founder and drummer, to surround herself with great jazz musicians and to raise visibility, increase opportunities and honor the contributions of women in jazz, now and through the ages.

Kim Peralta studied drums in Cuba from 2018 - 2021 with drummer/congero Alejandro Aguiar Rodriguez. From 2021 - 2024 she played with the SUNY Jazz Ensemble under music director/pianist Christopher Parker, and later under saxophonist Michael Antonelli. Kim is the founder/organizer of the Jazzwomen.

Kate Anderson plays the saxophone. She holds a degree in Music Performance from Penn State University and a Masters in Music Jazz Studies from Northern Illinois University. Kate teaches masterclasses and workshops and pursues an active performance schedule.

Bev Poyerd is a soloist and accompanist in both the jazz and classical genres. She studied piano, performance and theory at the Henry Street Settlement School and Brooklyn Conservatory of Music and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Piano Performance from SUNY New Paltz.

Mike Aiese plays standup bass and is a local musician from Ellenville. He is known for performing with The Hudson Valley Bluegrass Band.
