To the editor:

It is my happy lot to live and work near Garnet Health (a/k/a Grover Hermann Hospital), Callicoon. I know many neighbors in my own and other nearby communities feel likewise, but I feel it is worth noting.

Praise to the emergency and primary care units there can’t be overstated. The clinical and support staff should be acknowledged in public and in their paychecks for the thorough work and respectful, personalized life-saving care they provide to a large rural area where more medical resources are needed than now exist.

Small communities thrive when good quality healthcare is accessible at all hours. Thank you, Garnet Health and NYS DOH for supporting and maintaining Sullivan County’s local community hospitals.
