When November rolls around, a lot of people get their minds in gear for elections. The 11th month of the year is almost synonymous with democratic practices, polling places and political messaging, but that isn’t the only time when the right to vote comes into play. For those who may not be caught up on what is happening in the political sphere of the county right now, let us remind you that it is time for primaries – ‘the vote before the vote.’

The biggest primary vote coming up in the next few weeks is for the Sullivan County Sheriff’, where two figures have been looking to gather support for their side for quite some time now.

And finally after a long campaign cycle, the time has come once again for registered Republicans across this county to have a say. If you live in this county and are a registered Republican, with early voting already started, it’s your time to select your party’s choice for sheriff. And yes, this June 24  election may “just be a primary” but it is not every day that you get to set the stage for such a high profile office for election.

Be sure to vote with your head and your hearts, and put forward the candidate you best feel should hold office – for not just the Sheriff’s race, but for every race you are eligible to vote for on the 24th.

We hope you have a plan to vote if you have not done so already, and thank you for your voice in deciding where your county, your town or village, and your neighborhood should go next.

This is the great American experiment at work!
