Red Cross Blood Drive at Garnett Health Medical Center Catskills in Memory of Al “Funzi” Frangipane

HARRIS – The Red Cross will host a blood drive in memory of Al “Funzi” Frangipane on Friday August 28, at Garnet Medical Center Catskills; 66 Harris-Bushville Rd, Harris, NY.

Al “Funzi” Frangipane was a US veteran, former New York Supreme Court Administrator, friend to many and Pop-Pop to a selected few. He was a tremendous volunteer who believed strongly in giving back to his community and showing up whenever and wherever the need arose. He fundraised for several causes including the Lions Club and St Jude Children’s Research Hospital; and was formerly an active Red Cross Volunteer who responded to Ground Zero with his wife Maria after the terrorist attacks of September 11.

Al was a sought-after blood donor for almost his entire adult life. It is with this in mind that the community is encouraged to donate blood at this time of great need.

According to America’s Blood Centers, community-based independent blood centers supply 60% of the U.S. blood supply and serve over 150 million people. Blood donation remains a critical public health service, with ongoing campaigns to increase participation, especially among younger and underrepresented groups.

You can schedule your donation spot by visiting the Red Cross at redcrossblood.org. Select Give Blood and type in your zip code for the sign-up window.
