TENNANAH LAKE – The Rockland Wolves delivered a strong performance on the course, defeating the Sullivan West Bulldogs 246–299 in a boy’s golf match played under chilly conditions at the par 72 Roscoe Mountain Club on April 30. Rockland set the tone early with consistent scoring across its lineup, highlighted by a match-low round of 40 from Ben Johnston. Sullivan West matched that low score with Ben’s cousin, Seamus Johnston’s 40, but the Wolves’ overall depth proved to be the difference.
Rockland’s Gavin Thomas followed closely with a 41, helping anchor a balanced team effort that also included a 49 from Garrett Kurpil and rounds of 58 and 59 from Patrick Gorr and Justin Burkey. Tanner Ward added a 59 as the Wolves comfortably secured the team victory. For Sullivan West, Luke Bernas carded a 59 while Sal Grindjan finished with a 56 to round out the Bulldogs’ scoring. “It was pretty chilly today but we had a good match,” Sullivan West coach John Meyer said.
With the win, Rockland continues to build momentum as the postseason approaches.
“We hope to have two guys get qualifying scores for the County match and we’re excited for that,” Rockland coach Michael Hill said, pointing to the team’s steady improvement and potential heading into upcoming competitions.
