Rockland kids rush for eggs

At Noon on Saturday, the Roscoe-Rockland Firemen’s Field had sprawled out on it dozens and dozens of colorful Easter eggs. By 12:05, roughly 100 children left the field picked clean, stashing away as many eggs as they could in their baskets.

The hot-footed race was split up into two heats – one with children ages six and under, and the other for young ones ages seven and up. In addition to the coveted massive eggs that offered up larger prizes for participants to win and take home, each child received a chocolate bunny, donuts and other treats for their efforts in collecting what the Easter Bunny left out for them to find. Kids even had the chance to throw their hat in the ring and guess the amount of jelly beans in the jar.

And if patient enough, they even got to take a photo with the friendly Easter Bunny, who hitched a ride down to the park on a fire truck thanks to his friends in the Roscoe-Rockland Fire Department and Ladies’ Auxiliary.
