Runners brave the cold in first track meet of the season

GRAHAMSVILLE - Frigid temps on a Wednesday afternoon didn’t stop the first Spring outdoor track meet of the season. The Tri-Valley Bears hosted the meet on their home track, but for the Bears, Comets, and other teams in attendance, it was a non-league event. For Monticello and Liberty, this meet served as a league contest. There was little to no downtime for a  majority of the athletes with the indoor and outdoor seasons being so close together. This meet served more as a tune-up to prepare to run in what can sometimes be less than optimal conditions as we transition to more springlike conditions.

There were several performances of note from the Panthers as they brought home an easy win over the Redhawks.

Monticello boys topped Liberty with a sizeable 109-21 win and the Monticello girls brought home an  81-43 victory over Liberty.

All four teams will be back on the field tomorrow: Tri-Valley will host Manor/Roscoe at 4:15 pm, Sullivan West will host Liberty at the Jeffersonville campus at 4:15, Monticello will visit Port Jervis at 4:30 pm, and Fallsburg will travel to Burke and compete at 4:15 pm.
