If you want a sure way to lower your scores, practice with your wedges. Chipping, Pitching and Full wedges are used on almost every hole for your average golfer.
Pitching: A pitch shot in golf is a longer shot than a chip shot. A chip shot is a shot just off the edge of the green and doesn’t require any wrist hinge. Pitch Shots normally are shots from 10 yards off the green to as much as 80 yards.
The first thing I would recommend is going to the driving range and practice with your sand wedge. See how far it goes with no wrist hinge. Take the club back to hip high and follow through to hip high. We will call that a level 1 swing. Let’s say it goes 20 yards. Next take the club back, so it stops when the club is vertically to the ground with the grip cap facing down. Do the same on the follow through.
We will call that a Level 2 swing. Let’s say that goes 40 yds. Lastly, take a full swing or level 3 and see how far that goes. Let’s say that goes 60 yards. Now you have a system. You can repeat those swings with your gap wedge and pitching wedge and get those yardages.
