LIBERTY – The Liberty Museum & Arts Center will hold its   Sixteenth Annual Poetry Festival Saturday,   September 20,  at the Museum,  46 South Main Street in Liberty.

Reading begins at 1pm.  Poets will share their original work,  and this year they hail from as near as Liberty, to as far away as NYC, and Pennsylvania. Themes and topics also vary,  so there  is something for everybody to enjoy.

Following the program, visitors and participants will have the opportunity to chat over light refreshments, and enjoy the current exhibit, which features works by some of our Sullivan County Art Educators. Admission is free – donations are always appreciated.

The poetry event started sixteen years ago by then  Liberty Poet Laureate Walter Keller, who invited local poets to get together once a year and share their work in a public forum. After Walter passed away,  current Liberty Poet Laureate  Marilyn Laufer continued the tradition, and it has grown and become a popular, anticipated annual happening sponsored by the museum.

For more information or directions to the museum, call Marilyn Laufer, coordinator, at  845-292-6628.
