Due to extreme weather, I am packed in with high snow. Various neighbors have been shoveling me out. Two of them happen to be a doctor and his wife who live directly across the street from me. Another is Pete Smith who lives on the corner. It’s great to have such good neighbors.
Due to the snow, as well as frigid temperatures, I haven’t been getting out to walk and have been watching a lot of Doc Martin shows on television. Another show I’ve been watching is Graham Norton, a British talk show which I am enjoying because it’s mostly comedy.
The high snowbanks remind me of a time, years ago, when my husband was still living. Another neighbor of ours became concerned about Jim, who was shoveling snow in his eighties. She told us about her father-in-law who had a fatal heart attack the day after shoveling snow. Jim attempted to reassure her by telling her he always stopped shoveling as soon as he felt tired. We all breathed a sigh of relief when he hired someone else to do it.
