Sullivan County Shields 2025 Scholarship Awards

LIBERTY – The Sullivan County Shields welcomed their 2025 scholarship recipients and parents at a reception and awards event following their May 21 meeting in Liberty.

This financial aid is offered to a senior attending a Sullivan County high school who intends to pursue a career in some branch of law enforcement. Students must submit an application, write an essay, and attend an interview.

This year, the Scholarship Committee chose two students, both of whom attend Monticello High School.

Hannah Titus and Anthony (Tony) LaRusso introduced themselves and their guests. Each student related something about their reasons for their choice of career and what they hope to accomplish. Hannah has applied to study criminal justice and ultimately become a NY State Trooper. Hannah was accompanied by her mother, Jennifer Jones.

Anthony is interested in forensics and began attending some classes during senior year. Anthony was joined by parents, Jennifer Davis and Anthony and Victoria LaRusso.

After a presentation and congratulations by Shields President Peter Chivaro, all enjoyed a meet-and-greet over refreshments.

The Sullivan County Shields is an organization of working and retired law enforcement personnel and associate members who support and help with community activities and events and other law enforcement agencies when needed.

We are a non-profit organization whose funds are raised for support of police and encourage young people who have chosen to pursue law enforcement careers through these scholarships.

Anthony LaRusso and Hannah Titus were presented with letters of congratulations by Sullivan County Shields President Peter Chiavaro at the Shields May 21 meeting in Liberty.
