SULLIVAN COUNTY–– With this season’s cold weather, our Sulivan County alpine skiers have been able to complete their race schedule as scheduled. Racers from Fallsburg, Liberty, Monticello, Sullivan West, and Tri-Valley have been competing in Slalom at Holiday Mountain, Mt. Peter, and GS at Belleayre.
Our Division 1 schools, also including Onteora and Kingston, completed 9 SL and GS races with Monticello’s Girls and Boys Teams capturing first place.

Our 2025 Division 1 Alpine Champions were Monticello’s Alexis Heins and Sam Rein both winning in 2024 as well. Winning silver in Division 1 were Onteora’s Rylan Reynolds and Monticello’s Reese Kelly. Bronze winners were Madeline Pantel from Fallsburg and Parker Tyler from Sullivan West.
The Monticello Division 1 girls, raced the Cornwall girls, Division 2 Champions, and the Cornwall girls won 645.05 to 689.07.
The Monticello Division 1 boys raced the Warwick boys – Division 2 champions and the Monticello boys won 577.95 to 646.28.
At our Section 9 Championships at Hunter Mountain on February 11th, the top 40 girls and top 40 boys in the Section 9 competed in SL and GS. For the fifth year in a row, Monticello’s Alexis Heins won the Championship winning both the slalom and giant slalom races this year. Fallsburg’s Madeline Pantel finished 5th overall.
Onteora’s Rylan Reynolds came in 6th and Monticello’s Madelyn Cavello finished 8th in both events. Monticello’s Sam Rein won the Boys Championship for the second year. Teammate Reese Kelly came in second while winning the giant slalom with a time of 34.47. SW Parker Tyler came in fourth.
Liberty’s Hudson Danzilo came in 5th, followed by Monticello’s Diego Ferrer in 7th, Tri Valley’s Santino Haffner in 8th and Guiliano Fransico in 12th. The Skimeister Awards for the lowest combined times of all four runs were accomplished by Alexis Heins and Ram Rein.
The Monticello boys’ team of Sam Rein, Reese Kelly, and Diego Ferrer posted the fastest HS team time in Section 9 and will race at states. Also on the Section 9 boys team to states are: Parker Tyler, Hudson Danzilo, and Santino Haffner. Our Girls Section 9 team heading to states includes Alexis Heins, Madeline Pantel, and Madelyn Cavello.
The NYSPHSAA Alpine Ski Championships will be held at Gore Mountain on February 24th and 25th.
