SOUTH FALLSBURG – This past Saturday and Sunday, the town of Fallsburg hosted a Two-Man Senior Better Ball Golf Tournament at Tarry Brae. This is the first year the event was held for participants 55 and older.

The event was organized by Tom Drobysh, and golf pro Jeff Walsh from Tarry Brae and Mike Decker, who works at Lochmor, oversaw everything from the food to the match.

After Saturday morning’s qualifying round the teams went into match play with Wayne Pirnos and Nathan Steingart emerging as the tournament champions and Bob Whitaker and Michael Zager coming in 2nd place.

“The turnout was great,” shared Steingert. The tournament drew about 30 players. The lunch and dinner gatherings were enjoyed by all on Saturday and Sunday, and the clear skies and sunshine over the weekend was the ideal backdrop for the tournament’s first year.

“We are hoping the event grows next year,” shared Drobysh. “I thought the event went very well for the first year. Without the help of Jeff and Mike this would have been very difficult. And we would also like to thank Fred Stabbert for his help with publicizing and covering the tournament for the newspaper.”
