SUMMITVILLE – This July 12, journey back in time to see American industry innovation at its best, through Bill Merchant’s presentation of the “D&H Canal and Gravity Railroad in Postcards” at Sullivan County’s D&H Canal Interpretive Center and Linear Park, 16 Bova Road, Summitville.

Merchant is Deputy Director for Collections, Historian and Curator of the D&H Canal Historical Society Museum in High Falls. He also serves as President of the Delaware and Hudson Transportation Heritage Council. Over the years, Merchant has collected a vast amount of incredible postcards that will give you a visual tour of the feats and operations of the D&H Canal and Gravity Railroad.

This free event kicks off at 2pm, but feel free to come early to enjoy light refreshments and take in all of the fascinating displays the Interpretive Center has to offer. Advance registration is suggested, as space is limited. Email scparks@sullivanny.gov or call 845-807-0287 to register.

The D&H Canal Interpretive Center is open every weekend on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, through September 1. Hours are 10am-5pm Fridays and Saturdays, and 12-5pm Sundays.
