Turtle Trot takeover in Kenoza Lake

Posted

KENOZA LAKE – The 11th Annual Turtle Trot was held on Saturday, July 12. Part of the Orange Runners King and Queen of the Mountain the race is held in honor of Doug Ackermann, father of race director April Rutledge, who passed away from pancreatic cancer and Breanna Darling, Rutledge’s cousin, who died too young. The proceeds from the race will benefit families struck with catastrophic illness.

Over a hundred locals and non-locals participated in the Walkers 5k, 5K run, and 10k run race options. Truly a highlight of the event was White Lake resident and student at Sullivan West, Bryce Bressler setting a new course record in the 5k run with a time of 19:36. The Turtle Trot is one of the many local Sullivan County and beyond races, that take place in the area between June and October.
