And, don’t forget! The Small Town Country 4-H Club is hosting the Annual Live. Love. Serve 5K on Sunday, at 9 a.m. Run or walk a USTAF certified racecourse through the hamlet of Hortonville. Fees are $35 the morning of the race and $15 for 4-H youth. You have to be in it to win it! They have beautiful medals for the top three finishers in each age category as well as trophies for overall top three winners. Proceeds are used to fund the small Town Country 4-H Club Scholarship. They are also collecting your old sneakers at the race that are ready to retire and recycle.

The War of the Scarecrows is on! Some really fantastic scarecrows are popping up all over Main Street! Attached to the Scarecrows is a QR code that leads you to Solstice and Ash Mystic Shoppe’s Facebook page. Leave your vote for your favorite Scarecrow on this post. I actually went to the Facebook page and voted there.

Solstice and Ash Mystic Shoppe is having their last outdoor event at the Shoppe (4893 SR 52, Jeffersonville) before the weather changes! Join them for an Autumn Acoustic & Artisan Market with music, vendors and food on Sunday, October 25 from Noon to 3 p.m. Bring a chair or blanket to sit by the creek and enjoy the music – if it’s too chilly, they will light the fire pit. The concert is free, however they are asking for donations of non-perishable food or hygiene products for our local Food Pantry located at the First Presbyterian Church in Jeffersonville.

The Callicoon Center Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary is having a Children’s Halloween Party and Trick-or-Treat Parade on Friday, October 30 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Callicoon Center Volunteer Fire Department! A free community event with games & activities, a costume contest and snacks & treats. Come dressed in your favorite Halloween costume with your best spooky, silly or creative look and bring your friends. Student volunteers are needed also – if you are a student looking for volunteer hours or just want to help with the local kids, they would love for you to join them.

The Sullivan West Senior High Choir is presenting “Tonight Cabaret 2026” on Tuesday, October 27 in the SW High School Cafeteria at 7 p.m. A SW Senior High Choir Cabaret fundraiser - $5 suggested donation.

The Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County (located at 64 Ferndale-Loomis Rd. Liberty) is having a Bulb Planting Garden Workshop October 28 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Learn which flowering bulbs are pest resistant, when they should be planted, and when they should bloom. They will cover garlic, Allium, Tulips and more that bloom throughout the year, from March through September. Free workshop but you must register.

Cover your flowers, the first real frost will be here this weekend! I have already had some frost.
