HORTONVILLE — Prior to the adornment of dozens of Veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces’ gravestones, supporters of the Wreaths Across America initiative gathered at the Hortonville Fire Department on Saturday.
With the words “remember - honor - teach”, Master of Ceremonies and President of the Allan Milk Memorial VFW Auxiliary 7276, Amber Sullivan, lead wreath-layers as they took Wreaths Across America Day to visit 24 cemeteries on the eastern side of the county.
At the firehouse, ceremonial wreaths were presented by representatives of eight pillars within the U.S. Armed Forces. Those included the Army by Tony Wayne, Marines by Robert Lepple, Navy by Clarence Rundle, Air Force by Doc Bolduc, Coast Guard by Howie Goldsmith, Space Force by Arthur Flynn, Merchant Marine by Craig Keitel and POW/MIA Wreath of Honor by Bruce Pesci.
The Pledge of Alliegance was lead by members of the local 4H, Small Town Country 4H, Diehl Us In and Moo Juicers.
The National Anthem was sung by Emily Ducey, and God Bless America was sung by Isabelle Passante. TAPS was performed by Robert Lepple and John Dworetsky.
