TUSTEN — Attention is being paid to two of the town’s declining water wells, with one of the three needing a complete replacement attached with a $170,000 price tag as a result of the quote received by Delaware Engineering.
The report on the town Water and Sewer committee’s meeting on October 7 where this was discussed was by town board member Kevin McDonough. In his report, he noted that Town Water and Sewer Operator Craig Snedeker said that output from Well 3 continues to decline.
As for Well Two, Snedeker was reported to have received two quotes on the job to repair leaking valves and flow meter. With the lower quote, Phoenix Enterprises of Liberty was chosen to do the repairs at $3,000.
According to Town Supervisor Ben Johnson, it is unclear whether the town’s insurance will cover only $25,000 of the expense for Well Three’s necessary replacement.
