GRAHAMSVILLE – Tri-Valley hosted their 30th Annual Track & Field Invitational last weekend. Seventeen schools had athletes compete. A live DJ providedmusic, and a large concession stand was fully stocked with food and drinks, t-shirts, sweatshirts and fun prizes. This was the first year T-V hosted an “Elite One Mile” race in which athletes ran an entire mile (rather than a 1500/1600). This race was by invitation only to athletes that received a qualifying time in a previous race.

A few highlights from Tri-Valley athletes:

Kane Poje broke his own school record in the shot put by throwing a massive personal best of 55-5.75, winning the event. This currently ranks as #1 in the section and a NY #5. Kane threw a personal best in the Hammer of 182-4, which ranks him #1 in the section and #1 in NYS. Kane also finished third in discus.

In the Elite One Mile, Tri-Valley had three athletes compete. Ally Chevalier finished in a personal best of 5:20. Anna Furman won the girls race in a personal best of 4:57 which broke the previous school record held by Heather Iautaro from 2004. Anna ran an en route 1500 of 4:35. Van Furman also ran in the elite one mile. Van won the event and ran a personal best for the full mile in 4:16 which is also a full mile school record.

Sophia Richardson won the 200 and broke the previous school record that was set in 1998. Sophia broke the record by more than a full second, running 25.89! This ranks Sophia #2 in NYS Class C.
