MILFORD, PA – On June 14, local artists and art lovers will be granted unusual access to the Zimmerman Estate and Farm operated by the National Park Service. That’s the date of the 8th Annual Plein Air Milford, sponsored by the Barryville Area Arts Association.
This is a pastoral farm setting maintained by the NPS as it was over 100 years ago. (Painting will only be permitted outdoors, but those who attend also will have access to the buildings.) The Zimmermann Farm, the historic estate of acclaimed artist and metalworker Marie Zimmermann (1879-1972), sits perched above the Delaware River.
Built in 1912, the stone mansion of Marie’s design was the country getaway of the Brooklyn based Zimmermann family and eventually the full-time home of the artist and her partner Ruth Allen. Surrounded by forest, waterfalls & gardens and steeped in history, this private sanctuary is truly a sight to behold.
It’s from 10am-3pm on June 14, and all levels of artists and art lovers are welcome. We’ll even have some painting supplies on hand for beginners.
This is a free event but pre-registration is required. Email us at barryvilleareaarts@gmail.com to register.
