LIBERTY — A Brief History of Sullivan County, as experienced through Found Objects, Artifacts, Artists and Explorers, will open at the Liberty Museum on July 22nd. The Museum is inviting Sullivan County residents who own interesting found artifacts and objects to participate in the exhibition. We will have an anthropology expert available during the opening of the show to identify your objects.

There are two ways to participate: You can loan your objects to the Museum for the duration of the exhibition, or you can bring them to the Museum for a one day exhibition during the opening reception. Please contact Carol Smith to make arrangements, at carolsmith2223@gmail.com, or call 845-434-8044, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Included in the exhibition will be a collection of Native American artifacts from the Sullivan County Historical Society, Inuit artifacts from the Frederick Cook Society, and a very special collection of native American inspired ceremonial objects made by Grahamsville artist, Richard Rulli.

Along with the artifacts, the exhibition will include a rare collection of photographs of the indigenous tribes of Alaska, Greenland and Tierra Del Fuego, taken by Sullivan County native explorer, Dr. Frederick Cook.

The Exhibition will run through August 26th. The Liberty Museum is located at 46 S. Main St, Liberty, NY 12754  You can visit the website at libertymuseum.com, or call 845-292-2394.
