A pause on opening the pool, keeping an eye on the fairgrounds

NEVERSINK — Neversink Town Clerk Staci Conjura read a report of the pool’s closure given to her by Supervisor Chris Mathews. She stated that someone is coming soon to do patchwork.

Prior to the patchwork, the pool will start getting emptied and cleaned.

“We’ll see how that rolls, and fill it back up,” stated Conjura.

A new perspective on security cameras

Following this, Councilman Richard Coombe Jr. stated that there have been concerns over time leading to installing cameras around the fairgrounds.

It has been done with the ice rink years ago when there has reportedly been vandalism.

“At the end of the day, I guess public cameras are just where the world is at today,” speculated Coombe. “My sense is that we should seek proposals to have a decent number of cameras. We should probably note the entrance to the park and probably the entrance to the fairgrounds.”

He affirmed that they’re talking about security cameras in order to investigate incidents if necessary.

Conjura stated that Supervisor Mathews wanted to set up a date and time for the installers to inspect all the different sites.

“I think we have to be practical about the locations and what you can see,” stated Coombe. “We had the incident ... when somebody was going on the brand-new tennis courts with a skateboard.”

“We couldn’t tell who it was except for the fact that they walked by the pavilion where they were on camera and then we watched them walk all the way down and climb over the fence.”
