Aktion Club donates to Community Causes

MONTICELLO — Members of the Aktion Club of Sullivan County recently donated needed winter attire to the Federation for the Homeless in Monticello, NY. They distributed blankets, scarves, socks, hats, gloves, winter jackets, cans of soup as well as personal hygiene items.   Director Kathy Kreiter stated they were very much needed and appreciated.

In addition to helping out the Federation, the members raised $215 for the WSUL Heart-a-thon by selling paper hearts to their friends and family.  This amount was presented to Al Frangipane, the “Heart Man”,  and was given in honor and in memory of Walter Madden, Jr., a member of the club who had recently passed away and loved by all.

At the same meeting, the Club installed two new members with Woodridge Kiwanian/Aktion Club Advisor Sue Kasofsky officiating.

Aktion Club is comprised of individuals with various degrees of developmental disabilities and who are affiliated with Arc Greater Hudson Valley, The Center for Discovery and New Hope Community. The club is sponsored by the Kiwanis Clubs of Monticello and Woodridge. Their disabilities certainly do not interfere with their love and compassion to help people in the community.
