BETHEL – In a letter to New York State Secretary of State Walter T. Mosley c/o The Office of Planning, Development & Community Infrastructure in Albany, NY, Bethel Town Supervisor Dan Sturm expressed his support for Sullivan County’s application for funding in order to develop a Countywide Comprehensive Plan.
The grant is part of the Smart Growth Community Planning Program, which provided a $90,000 grant to the Town of Bethel in support of the updating of its Comprehensive Plan, (which is currently in progress).
Sturm stated, “This initiative is essential to shaping the County’s long-term vision by incorporating smart growth principles, advancing sustainability, and ensuring that infrastructure, housing, economic development, public services, and revitalization efforts are aligned with evolving planning concepts and the needs of our communities.”
The letter offers collaboration by the Town of Bethel, which is “invested in achieving sustainable growth,…clean energy sources,… and protection of natural resources” to “ensure alignment of goals, vision, and future development for everyone.”
Sturm says he supports the allocation of the grant to provide “the opportunity to take a proactive, collaborative, and community driven approach in the development of a new Comprehensive Plan that positions Sullivan County for long-term success, stability, and future growth.”
