NARROWSBURG — Teaming up to bring new brews and fresh brisket to 93 Main Street in Narrowsburg, Big Eddy Brewing Company and Smokd Barbecue took shears to the ribbon, marking their official grand opening this past Saturday.
Put on in part by the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce, a crowd gathered to wish the businesses their congratulations and good luck. Addressing the crowd was Smokd head chef Jean Paul Medina and brewmaster Jake Johnson.
Johnson joined Medina in giving thanks for all that led up to the day. The brewmaster returned his gratitude to Smok’d co-owners Jean Paul and his wife Sarah Banks, as well as for brewery co-owners Alison, his wife, and Caitlin and Tom Coacci.
Johnson also gave a shout out of appreciation to the Tusten Town Board, the Sullivan County IDA, Sullivan County and Narrowsburg chambers of commerce, fellow Main Street business owners, Dirlam Brothers Lumber Co., American Electric LLC, and their friends and family for their support.
“We got so lucky with the people that we work with, everyone here is the best crew you could ever ask for,” Johnson said.
Johnson’s father, Keith, was invited to do the honors of cutting the ribbon, using a pair of scissors that belonged to Alison’s grandmother, who passed last week at the age of 99.
On the count of three, the ribbon was slashed and a whole day’s worth of celebration, live music, food and drink promptly followed.
